The German Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance on Artificial Optical Radiation (OStrV) requires every employer operating Class 3R, 3B or 4 laser systems to appoint a qualified Laser Safety Officer and ensure all employees working with or near laser systems receive regular, documented safety instructions.
Laser 2000 offers certified training as standard, delivered online or on-site, in German and in English. Our courses are provided in cooperation with the Bayerische Laserzentrum GmbH (blz) and provide the official OStrV certificate your organisation needs.

Application Training Laser Safety

Refreshes LSO specialist knowledge with practical exercises, measurements and current regulatory updates. In cooperation with BLZ. Certified according to DIN standard.
Content includes: STOP principle, OStrV/TROS updates, NOHD calculations, laser measurement exercises, PPE selection (OD calculation, software tools).

Who must be designated as a Laser Safety Officer?
Under OStrV §5, any employer operating Class 3R, 3B or 4 laser systems must designate one or more qualified Laser Safety Officers in writing before operation. The LSO must complete appropriate training and keep their knowledge current.
How often must an LSO refresh their training?
A Laser Safety Officer must refresh their expertise at least every five years. Refresher training may also be required earlier if relevant regulations change, new laser systems are introduced or responsibilities are significantly modified. recommended.
Are courses available in English?
Yes. On-site trainings are available in German or English. For online courses, English-language sessions are available on request.
