Optical Sensing
Optical Sensing - Overview & Solutions
Optical sensing refers to technologies that use light to detect, measure, or monitor physical, chemical, or biological parameters. Instead of relying on electrical contacts, optical sensors analyse how light changes — including intensity, wavelength, phase, polarization, or time-based effects such as Time of Flight (ToF).
These variations are converted into electrical signals to provide precise and reliable measurements. In modern systems, technologies such as VCSEL (Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser) illumination and ToF depth sensing enable high speed, high accuracy 3D measurement and distance detection for consumer, industrial, and scientific applications.
